  • Workforce Development Program - Nez Perce Tribe, Idaho

We delivered the first Tesla Megapack in Idaho to the Nez Perce Tribe. This project will deliver energy autonomy and true sustainable operations at the Lapwai Wastewater Treatment Plant and has been supported almost entirely with a tribal workforce and training program authored by our project lead, Tuck Miller, during the pandemic.

The development of local Tribal workforce has been a key component of the projects. Solar and storage jobs provide excellent wages and have a strong future. The ability to keep full time, high paying jobs in the local community is critical to self determination.

  • Shut Down Red Hill - Sierra Club

Thousands of people were poisoned by the US Navy’s Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility, yet over 100 million gallons of fuel remain in the tanks— every day threatening the safety of Oʻahu’s drinking water supply and life as we know it.

In the weeks following the leak, the people of Oʻahu came together demanding justice and seeking answers as their anger and fear grew. Calls to shut down the Red Hill facility were echoing from almost every level of decision maker, culminating in an emergency order from the Governor, directing the Navy to defuel the tanks.

Pressure mounted as the people’s demands reached President Biden, the Secretary of Defense, and the Secretary of the Navy, while the Sierra Club of Hawaiʻi took to the courts to ensure the emergency order was upheld. Finally, over a month after fuel contaminated the drinking water, the Navy agreed to follow the emergency order and defuel the tanks. But it isn’t over yet.

  • Sustainable Coastlines Hawaiʻi Composting Operation

This innovative composting technology is one of the first in-vessel solutions in Hawai‘i permitted for food waste. It will improve diversion rates, create healthier soils, accelerate local food production, and expand collaborative efforts that push our islands toward more circular solutions.

RevoluSun donated and installed a Tesla Powerwall and solar system, which powers the machine, the office, and the education center.

The compost machine, housed at Full Circle Solutions Hawai’i in Waimānalo, can process a mixture of approximately 400-700 pounds of food scraps, and 300-600 pounds of mulch and green waste per day (over 180 tonnes per year in total). 1,000 daily pounds of organics loaded becomes 500 lbs (or ~1⁄2 cubic yard) of compost harvested daily, creating a steady and high volume of quality, local product. The soil will be available for purchase through the Full Circle Solutions Hawai‘i website.

  • Kupu Partnership

We partnered with Kupu and Pacific Current on the completion of their PV system at their beautiful Kewalo Basin facility.

Kupu, Hawaii’s leading environmental education nonprofit, opened Ho‘okupu Center in 2019. Designed to offer job training and community building for local youth, the facility is a model of sustainability with a net-zero energy-rated photovoltaic system, Hawai‘i’s first EverCharge Hawai‘i EV charging stations, and natural lighting systems.

Pacific Current owns and operates the 95-kW rooftop solar system at Ho‘okupu Center, which was built and installed in partnership with RevoluSun. Ho‘okupu Center also serves as the pilot location for Pacific Current’s joint venture with EverCharge, bringing the latest in EV charging technology to Hawai‘i.
